Cherokee Rural Water is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Water Utility Operator
Cherokee Rural Water is now accepting applications for a full-time water treatment/distribution operator. Qualified applicants will be responsible for maintaining and operating water treatment plants, facilities, and distribution systems.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of treatment facilities, distribution system, and facilities
- Observe and monitor facility operations and make necessary adjustments
- Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing
- Provide proper and accurate records for all tasks performed
- Perform general maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and tools
- General housekeeping
Qualifications include:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to obtain an Iowa Grade I Water Treatment/Water Distribution license
- Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule including weekends
- Live within a 30-minute response time to treatment facilities
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong mechanical skills preferred
- Strong math skills required
- Attendance and punctuality are required
